How do I create a 3-Month stock chart?
Using Yahoo! Finance, a stock chart can
be created for various timeframes. Simply
input the symbol on the Yahoo! Finance website
(www.yahoo.com/r/f1), and click on the "chart" hyperlink
in blue after the stock's information is
displayed. If a stock chart created in Microsoft
Excel is desired, the stock price information
from Yahoo! Finance can be downloaded directly
into Excel. Click on the "historical
prices" hyperlink, and then input the
desired date range. Scroll to the bottom
of the screen and select, "download
spreadsheet data." The data will be
transferred to Excel, and is able to be manipulated
into a graph using the "chart" function
located within Microsoft Excel.
Where is a company's Proxy Statement located?
All publicly traded companies file their released proxy statements
with the Securities and Exchange Commission. These proxy statements can
be found on the www.sec.gov website, as well as on the firms' websites
in their registered filings section.
Where can I find a company's Corporate Governance?
Publicly
traded firms
must show their
most senior executives and their respective
base salaries in the companies' annual reports
and 10-K's.
Also, in the "Notes to the Financial Statements" (in the annual
reports) firms will disclose the amounts of cash paid for stock options
corresponding to executives' stock option plans. Additional information
about how senior management is compensated may be found by reading the "Management
Discussion & Analysis" section of a public company? s annual
report.
What is the exact industry in which my company is located?
Different investment reporting/information systems use slightly differing
titles for various industries. This can cause difficulty when trying
to determine the exact industry in which a company operates. Because
public entities often operate within several industries at once (for
instance General Electric has an electric components segment, consumer
lending section, and broadcasting segment), the chosen industry may vary
between investment information systems
How can I find information about a company's long-term revenues (beyond
5 years), which shows how its business has grown
over time?
ValueLine (accessible from www.auctr.edu/djrc/djrcer.htm)
information system lists a one-page report
on public companies. Included in this page
is the "revenues
per share" data for at least the last 15 years, if the firm has operated
that long. By multiplying this figure by the number of shares outstanding,
the total revenues can be determined for the entire time period.
