During the week of June 5, the AUC Woodruff Library will replace the current interlibrary loan management system, ILLiad, with Tipasa, a new cloud-based system from the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC). Tipasa will offer a more intuitive user experience for processes like interlibrary loan renewals, submitting requests and account management. Tipasa also has many great features that users are sure to find beneficial like the barcode login. Barcode login allows users to access the system using their current library account barcode instead of a username; thus giving them one less login creditial to remember. Another great feature is its responsive design and display that gives users the freedom to create interlibrary loan requests from a smart phone and other mobile devices
While users still have the ability to make interlibrary loan requests using the links presently on the library’s website, it’s important to note that user history from ILLiad will not carry over to Tipasa.
As Tipasa’s launch date nears, more information will be shared regarding its use and features. In the meantime, general questions about the system migration or request for assistance with saving ILLiad history can be directed to the Interlibrary Loan Unit Head, Teva Hutchinson.
