Overview
The Robert W. Woodruff Library (RWWL) of the Atlanta University Center began a service initiative in records management in October 2008. The initiative is to:
Promote:
The development of records management policies, procedures, and programs at the Atlanta University Center (AUC).
Provide:
Information resources and training for staff responsible for managing records.
Identify:
Inactive records of historical and enduring value that are in immediate need of preservation.
Records management will help the AUC institutions effectively manage their information assets to meet their legal, financial, administrative, and research responsibilities. In addition, records management will assist the AUC institutions in the identification and preservation of materials of enduring value that document their rich and long history of service and achievement that dates back to 1865.
Initial funding for this service initiative is provided by the generous support of the Andrew W. Mellow Foundation. The initiative is guided by an advisory committee comprised of representatives from the AUC institutions.
The Atlanta University Center (AUC) is the largest and oldest consortium of African American private institutions of higher education. Members of the consortium include Clark Atlanta University, the Interdenominational Theological Center, Morehouse College, and Spelman College.
