Overview:

The Robert W. Woodruff Library (RWWL) of the Atlanta University Center (AUC) has been awarded a grant from the Andrew Mellon Foundation to develop a comprehensive information literacy program for the faculty and students of it’s member institutions—Clark Atlanta University, the Interdenominational Theological Center, Morehouse College and Spelman College. RWWL will demonstrate its effectiveness as a learning place by initiating a pilot program in information literacy in Fall 2006. The librarians of the Robert W. Woodruff Library will collaborate with the faculty of the Atlanta University Center to build the life learning skills of students. Faculty participants and courses in the pilot program include:

CAU -- CIS 100, Information Technology and Computer Applications – The seven instructors with whom RWWL librarians will partner are Mr. Seun Akinyosoye, Ms. Sonya Dennis, Ms. Mia Moore, Dr. Sarah North, Ms. Oraib Zaid Obeidat, Mr. Yared Tewolde, and Mr. Ian Toppin.

ITC -– Foundations for Ministry – RWWL will partner with ITC faculty member Dr. Danella Fogle.

Morehouse College -- World Literature 250 – The faculty member for this course is Dr. Carolyn Garnier.

Spelman College -- Chemistry 101, First Year Seminar for Chemistry Majors and Chemistry 111, General Chemistry – RWWL librarians will partner with faculty participants Dr. Gladys Bayse and Dr. Lisa Hibbard. In addition, RWWL librarians will partner with Professor Kelli Randall to introduce information literacy to English 103 - First Year Composition.
