The first annual Asa G. Hilliard Symposium will take place at the AUC Woodruff Library on April 7-8, 2020. The theme is "Are You Woke? Reawakening the African Mind."
This interdisciplinary symposium will feature scholars, educators, activists, artists, and students whose work explores the intellectual, professional, and creative work of Africana people through a series of presentations and panel discussions. This inaugural symposium seeks to honor Dr. Hilliard’s legacy by providing a platform where this notion of consciousness, popularly referred to as “wokeness” uncovers, explains and questions its relationship to the growth, development and liberation of Africa and the African Diaspora.
