Library Access Policy

The Atlanta University Center Robert W. Woodruff Library is open to visitors Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 7 p.m. Visitors are defined as individuals without a valid institutional identification card from either one of the RWWL Atlanta University Center member institutions (Clark Atlanta University, the Interdenominational Theological Center, Morehouse College, Spelman College) or with valid campus identification and signed ARCHE card from the campus library of an ARCHE member institution. The ARCHE interlibrary use card may be used to borrow from the collections of other ARCHE libraries. As stated in the ARCHE Interlibrary Use Policy, each library reserves the right to establish its own rules and regulations regarding access to and use of circulating materials. Possession of an ARCHE interlibrary use card does not provide access to the Library’s electronic resources, software or technology equipment.

  1. All visitors entering the library must show a valid, government-issued photo identification (e.g. driver’s license, military ID, passport). Students, faculty, and staff of the RWWL Atlanta University Center member institutions must show a current Atlanta University Center identification Individuals from ARCHE member institutions must show a current institutional identification and signed ARCHE card from the campus library of their home institution. Visitors will be required to sign in/out with Security Services. At any time, bags are subject to search by Security Services staff. Persons without appropriate identification will not be admitted.
  2. Weekdays after 7 p.m. and on weekends, only persons with a current Atlanta University Center identification card; valid institutional identification and signed ARCHE card of the campus library of an ARCHE member institution; and individuals with research appointments in Archives & Special Collections and a valid, government-issued photo identification (e.g. driver’s license, military ID, passport) will be admitted to the Library. Persons without appropriate identification will not be admitted. After 7 p.m. persons in the library without a current Atlanta University Center identification card, valid institutional identification and signed ARCHE card from the campus library of an ARCHE member institution, or research appointment in Archives & Special Collections will be required to leave.
  3. Persons under the age of 17 (seventeen) will only be admitted when they are accompanied by an individual from an RWWL Atlanta University Center member institution with a current Atlanta University Center identification card (an AUC sponsor), or are accompanied by a parent/guardian with current institutional identification and signed ARCHE card obtained from their campus library of an ARCHE member institution, or are accompanied by a parent/guardian with valid, government-issued photo identification.
  4. The week before and during the midterm and final exam periods of each school term access to the RWWL will be limited to persons with a current Atlanta University Center identification card, valid institutional identification and signed ARCHE card obtained from their campus library of an ARCHE member institution, or research appointments in Archives & Special Collections.
  5. Vendors conducting business in the Library are required to sign in/out with Security Services and are required to display visitor badges during all times within the building. The badges will be surrendered upon departure.
  6. Visitors to Atlanta University Center Robert Woodruff Library’s premises and/or at Library-directed and/or sanctioned activities, (unless authorized federal, state, or local law enforcement personnel) are prohibited from introducing, possessing, using, buying or selling weapons, firearms, ammunition explosives and/or other dangerous or hazardous devices or substances while on the Library’s premises and/or attending Library-directed and/or sanctioned activities. This prohibition expressly includes those persons licensed to carry concealed firearms (other than authorized federal, state, or local law enforcement personnel). Any person violating this policy will be required to leave the Library’s premises immediately.
