This one lacks knowledge of recent events, and therefore is not conducive to looking up current news. Other limitations include algorithmic bias, inaccuracies, and hallucination (writing plausible-sounding but erroneous, nonsensical responses).

Claude.AI
Developed by Anthropic, Claude.ai can summarize documents, generate long-form text, build data visualizations, translate languages, and program code.
Its developer adheres to a code of ethical norms, called the Constitutional AI philosophy, while avoiding algorithmic bias.

Litmaps
This one generally provides comprehensive scholarly literature search. It also maps citations to present a visual representation of who’s citing who, as well as aid in rapid literature review. It identifies publication trends and gaps that can inform collection development. This platform does have a steep learning curve and, therefore, would require some training on its use. There are freely available demos and tutorials on the web.

Notebook LM
Its formal name Google NotebookLM, is a note-taking and research tool that facilitates user-document interaction. It generates summaries and explanations based on the uploaded content. A noted feature is its “Audio Overviews,” which summarizes documents and videos (transcript required) in a conversational, podcast-like format.

Pricing Model: Free and Pro plans are available. For more information, there are plans upgrades available depending on the user’s needs: Consumer, Business, Enterprise, and Education. The free plan has limits imposed: a max of 100 Notebooks, with up to 50 sources each and 500,000 words each; daily limits of 50 chat queries and 3 audio overviews. (See the Q&A.) DALL.E
Developed by OpenAI, this image generation platform uses the same prompting environment as ChatGPT. Prompt ChatGPT to “paint” a picture that is based on words and phrases entered.
