Human Resources Generalist

SUMMARY:

The Atlanta University Center Robert W. Woodruff Library (AUC RWWL) supports the teaching and learning missions of four institutions of higher learning that comprise the world’s largest consortium of HBCUs—Clark Atlanta University, the Interdenominational Theological Center, Morehouse College, and Spelman College.  Conveniently located and easily accessible to the campuses, the Woodruff Library is the center of the intellectual and social life at the Atlanta University Center.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Human Resource Generalist will maintain the daily functions of the Human Resources (HR) department, including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. 

THE IMPACT YOU WILL HAVE:

  •  Partners with hiring managers to determine staffing needs.
  • Screens resumes, interviews candidates (by phone or in person), administers appropriate assessments and reference/background checking, makes recommendations for hire (or not hire), and delivers employment offers for both exempt and nonexempt position openings
  • Manages internal transfer process, including screening, coordination of interviews with hiring manager, transfer offer letters, etc.
  • Administer various employee benefits programs, such as group health, flexible spending accounts, dental and vision, accident and disability, life insurance, deferred compensation, and wellness benefits.
  • Conduct benefits orientations and explain the enrollment process.
  • Assist employees with health, dental, life, FMLA issues, and other related benefit claims while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Establish and maintain accurate personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements and HR record retention policy.
  • Responsible for notifying the Benefits Broker of all benefit enrollment applications; notified Benefits Broker of terminated employees enrolled in benefit programs within the appropriate timeframe.
  • Update TASC (FSA system) with all changes in employee activity (new enrollments and terminations).
  • Work with the Payroll Coordinator to ensure all eligible employees are accurately reflected in the payroll system, including the level of coverage and amount of payroll deduction; ensure comparable data is provided to Payroll Coordinator for timely termination of employee benefits as applicable.
  • Responsible for forwarding invoices promptly to the Finance department for payment.
  • Responsible for promptly reporting all workers’ compensation claims to the vendor.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the OSHA 300 log.
  • Track and send reminders for 90-day reviews for the new hire employee evaluation process.
  • Audit RWWL payroll and 403b (TIAA-CREF) contribution report to reconcile employee contributions and TIAA-CREF posted amounts.
  • Designs, develops, and runs HR reports.
  • Assist HR Director with research and special projects.
  • Other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:

  • Experience using ADP Workforce Now or a similar HRIS database
  • Working familiarity with employee benefit programs, including flexible benefit programs.
  • Working familiarity with ADP Workforce Now or other HRIS systems.
  • Certifications/Licenses Required:
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Requires strong communication, good writing, excellent customer service, and analytical skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
  • Must be a problem solver.
  • Proactive and independent with the ability to take the initiative.
  • Must remain open to change and new information and ideas and adapt.
  • Must encourage and foster cooperation and teamwork.
  • Project management experience Must be comfortable working independently and making recommendations to the HR Director.
 EDUCATION: 

 Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field or equivalent year’s professional/analytical experience related to the above-described duties.
