USA TODAY Staff Donates 1,000 Copies of Black History Month Special Edition Magazine to Atlanta University Center

ATLANTA (January 31, 2019) — A group of African American editors and writers from USA TODAY donated more than 1,000 copies of the publication’s 2019 Black History Month Special Edition to the world’s largest consortium of historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs)—the Atlanta University Center (AUC).

Staff coordinated the donation with the Atlanta University Center Robert W. Woodruff Library, which will distribute them starting Feb. 1 in celebration of Black History Month and the AUC’s role in cultivating black excellence.

The issue’s cover story, “Exodus: How Black Migrations Changed Our Nation,” explores the brutal history of slavery, as the first ship containing African cargo arrived in Virginia 400 years ago. Other topics featured include black identity, success, the #MeToo movement and higher education.

The AUC Woodruff Library will have copies available to students, faculty and staff at the circulation desk (main level), main entrance lobby area and Woodi Café (main level).
